I'm really proud of myself because I managed to take all of my important/hardest classes early in my college career. With that being said, my last semester is super super laid back and easy and having free time is not something I'm used. But I'm very excited about it. So I decided I wanted to get back into reading! I always just used post it notes or the most random things as a bookmark. Over break though I was looking for book marks in store, and then I had a brilliant idea, I'll just make one! So here's a step-by-step tutorial on how I made the accessory for my newest hobby!

1. For my book marks, I used some scrap book paper that I had already. Its important to use something a little thicker so its sturdy!

2. For each bookmark, I made them about an inch and a half thick. With the size of the paper I had gotten 6 slips.

3. Next make 2 cuts at the bottom to create a banner looking style.

4. Then take a hole puncher and punch a hole at the top of the paper in the center.

5. Onto the tassels! Making them isn't hard, just a little tedious. First youre going to want to find a piece of cardboard and make sure its about 2 to 3 inches wide. Take string or yarn and continuously wrap it around the cardboard about 20 times. The more you wrap, the thicker it is.

6. Taking the string, cut a smaller piece and tie it around what is wrapped around the cardboard.

7. Turn the cardboard around, grab your scissors and cut the bulk of string off!

8. Next take 2 more small pieces of string and tie them around the bulk of the string.

9. Grabbing the paper, run the single string part of the tassel around the hole and tie it in a knot around the top.

10. And ta-da! You have a book mark!

I made a bunch over winter break and gave them out to some of the girls in my sorority and they've all found good homes. Happy reading!!
